Budapest ranks amongst the most beautiful capitals in Europe, not only because of its topography, but also because of its deservedly famous architecture. To make it easier to survey the stylistic periods and their characteristics we chose to follow a chronological order from the beginings till the inter-war period. This guidebook is not simply a selection of the best of the architecture of Budapest: by presenting examples of innumerable noteworthy buildings we hope to help and inform readers interested in the city’s architectural heritage.
